Wishing Isabella Shealy the Best as She Begins Law School at UVA Law

As the autumn semester gets underway, the team at Naval Documents of the American Revolution (NDAR) wants to extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to student researcher Isabella Shealy, who is stepping back from her work with the project to begin law school at UVA Law.

During her time with NDAR, Isabella’s diligent archival work and attention to detail have significantly advanced our research operations and public collections. Her contributions have spanned several major initiatives, including:

  • Uncovering the Prize Papers: Isabella played a key role in processing and cataloging records from the High Court of Admiralty Prize Papers, uncovering crucial evidence on captured merchant vessels, privateering operations, and Atlantic trade networks.
  • Mastering the NDAR Archives: She took on the massive task of organizing, cataloging, and cross-referencing our extensive collection of microfilm, physical binders, and historical card catalogs—streamlining archival access for current and future project editors.
  • Compiling Continental Navy Officers Materials: Isabella systematically compiled and verified biographical records, service histories, and correspondence for officers of the Continental Navy, strengthening foundational data that supports our upcoming digital exhibits and published volumes.

While we will certainly miss her sharp analytical skills and dedication in the office, we are thrilled for her as she takes this exciting next step into the legal profession.

Please join us in thanking Isabella for her extraordinary work at NDAR and wishing her every success in law school!
